From the moment of her birth, Constance Kathleen seemed too formal a name for such a precocious little girl, so she soon became known as Corky.
From investigating a tomato worm in the garden to drawing a line down the middle of her bedroom, Corky dealth with her environment in creative ways.
Corky's older sister Diane set a precedence of impeccable behavior. Dottie, the enthusiastic and typical 1950s mother, kept Corky in line with ritualistic bath-time punishments and unwavering consistency. Walter, Corky's soft-spoken father, taught her of duty and honor to country and community. Both gave her the comforting feel of security and love.
Although Corky's love for animals sometimes caused heartache, the deaths and disappointments made her a stronger person. Each experience taught Corky a valuable lesson of life. Through all her trials and tribulations, Corky becomes ready and able to take on Junior High School!

This is a picture of Corky taking a bath on a trailer camping trip in Yucca Valley, California. Dottie grabbed the camera and added the props for one of the families most treasured snap shots! |
Corky's 5th grade teacher Mr. Kent. He taught her some of the most valuable lessons of her schooling. The most important was to "judge not a person by the color of his skin, but by the content of his character!" |
This is Corky and Diane on a sand dune in California. Corky is cranky because she is very hot and wants a drink. Notice how Diane stays far away so as not to add to the problem of the situation! |
