FAQ's

Here you'll find answers to the most common questions about  Corky Eckelsbriar and its author, Corinne Escobar Griffiths.

Q: How long did it take to write Corky?

A: I wrote and edited for about 4 years.  When the final manuscript was ready, it took another year to get the design, typesetting, and printing organized and completed.

Q: Did all those things you talk about in your book actually happen?

A: Yes, they did!  But, occasionally, I had to stretch and enhance the story a little to make it more interesting.  But, all those events actually happened.

Q: For what grade level is Corky Eckelsbriar written?

A: It is written with the 3rd through 6th grade student in mind.  However, a good reader in 1st and 2nd could read it and understand it because all the difficult words are defined right at the bottom of the page.  The 7th and 8th grade student will also get a kick out of the humorous stories.  I've had many adults say they enjoyed the book, as well!

Q:  Do you have a sequel to Corky?

A:  That is what I am working on now.  It deals with the adventures I had in Junior High School.  During that time, my dad was President of the School Board and I got suspended from school!  Many other interesting things happen during those two years...first kiss, first boyfriend, school dances, horseback rides, and trying things I shouldn't have tried...and GETTING CAUGHT!

Q:  When will this Junior High Corky book be done?

A:  That is a good question.  I teach sixth grade full time AND write a weekly newspaper column.  I work on it whenever I have a minute, but it takes a long time.  I'm shooting for 2008.  Wish me luck!

Q: What advice do you have for those who want to write about their lives?

A:  Start writing down funny things you remember.  Just brainstorm.  Then, once you have a lot of stories, start categorizing them and putting them in chronological order.  The best thing to do is just start writing and edit later.  Get it down on paper!
